Specialist Spotlight
Pamela Mills
I grew up in Wyoming and graduated with a BS in Psych from UW.
Then after having a family I returned to UW for a MS in Neuroscience, and
also got a divorce. Then I had the opportunity to decide what I REALLY
wanted to do and I chose PT and was lucky to get in to Pacific University
outside of Portland, OR graduating with an MSPT on 1994. I really intended
to stay in Oregon but family matters brought me back to Wyoming and I am
truly glad I did. I have had the pleasure of being near my dad in his later
years and I have had better business oportunities than I think I would have
had in Oregon, but who can say for sure? My first exposure to women's health
PT was your presentation at the WYPTA meeting in the late 90's. Since then I
have taken nearly every women's health class offered throught the APTA, was
granted the Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic PT (CAPP) and recently
awarded the Board Certification as a clinical specialist in women's health
PT (WCS). Most of my patients are either pregnant, were pregnant and ran
into problems during the postpartum period, or have pelvic problems, or have
cancer. I see men and women, but mostly women. My sole practice is located
in an old house made into a clinic, and my husband does a great job
landscaping (hence the name Wildflower Health Clinic).
For the past six years I have served on the Wyoming PT Licensing Board as
the primary investigator, and have helped with the development and passing
of our new Practice Act, and am hoping the rules and regs get passed very
soon! Prior to that I served as secretary for the chapter.
When I am not working , I love to travel, hike and spend time with my kids
and grandkids ( between my husband and I we have nearly 7
grandchildren-nearly because my daughter is due in April with her 2nd)
It's a good life!
