Dr. David Hanscom and Dr. Justin Dunaway will be presenting on Unraveling the Mystery of Pain: A Multi-disciplinary Approach to Treating Chronic Pain for 16 total CEUs (8 CEUs Saturday and 8 CEUs Sunday).

Description

• Day one is geared toward understanding pain neuroscience and how we may approach patients with chronic pain. It begins with orthopedic surgeon, Dr. David Hanscom, providing his perspective on chronic pain and to describe Direct Your Own Care project which has been successful in managing patients with chronic pain and has utilized a multi-disciplinary approach. This discussion is followed by lecture by Dr. Justin Dunaway explaining the neurophysiology behind pain. 
• The second day is focused on treatment of chronic pain and will include practical skills and tools that can be introduced immediately when you return to patient care. This portion of the course will be interactive and collaborative. Motivational interviewing will presented to help us recognize our approaches in our verbal interactions with patients and to be more goal oriented for eliciting behavioral change.
